Two speeds, two jobs. A simple way to decide which one each delivery needs, and how to pay less without missing a deadline.
Most deliveries don't need to be rushed, and some can't wait a minute. Choosing the right speed for each one is the easiest way to keep customers happy and your delivery costs down.
The short answer
- Same-day when the person receiving it needs it today: a customer order promised for today, documents for an afternoon meeting, supplies a team is waiting for.
- Next-day when tomorrow is fine: regular orders, restocks, anything planned. It costs less because routes are planned in advance.
If you're not sure, ask one question: what happens if this arrives tomorrow morning instead of this afternoon? If the answer is "nothing", choose Next-day.
When same-day is worth it
Same-day earns its price when timing creates value or avoids a cost:
- An online customer ordered before noon and you promised delivery today.
- A contract needs a signature before a deadline.
- A job site is waiting for a part, and every hour costs money.
Book before the morning cutoff and the delivery is picked up in the afternoon and delivered by the evening.
When next-day makes more sense
Next-day is the workhorse for planned deliveries:
- Store orders placed in the afternoon or evening.
- Weekly restocks between locations.
- Documents that just need to be there by tomorrow.
You can book until the evening cutoff, so you can finish your day and then book tomorrow's deliveries.
A simple way to decide
| If the delivery... | Choose |
|---|---|
| Must arrive within hours, direct | Rush |
| Must arrive today | Same-day |
| Can arrive tomorrow | Next-day |
| Must arrive on a specific day or time | Scheduled |
Pay less, whichever you choose
- Group deliveries from one pickup. 2 or more drop-offs from the same pickup get a multi-drop discount on every stop.
- Book with a business account. Monthly volume discounts apply automatically as you send more.
- Check the price first. Our instant price shows every speed side by side, with tax, before you book.
How to set it up
Most businesses use both: Same-day for the urgent few, Next-day for everything else. Create a free business account, save your pickup address once, and book either speed in a few clicks.
